My brother’s hobby is photography and one time, he asked a very excited Mom to put on a beautiful Victorian gown and sit by our bay window looking outside. It turns out, he will be joining a contest. But just as he was about to start shooting those pictures, he asked why the curtains doesn’t seem to ruffle as it should. And there I saw how Mom just stapled the curtains unto the wood panel. How it made me laugh! Would you believe that she was not aware that there are bay window curtain poles? We have nicely made elegant curtains. and I agreed with my brother when he postponed the photo shoot until Mom buys a curtain pole for our window.

I live in a medium apartment along with my wife and parents. It is a nice building where our apartment is located. The building is of 7th floor and we live in ground floor. Though it is in the ground floor but there is no problem of habitation and parking spaces for vehicles. There are spaces earmarked for every resident’s vehicle parking. There is also a children park just left to the building. Water supply and electricity facilities are very good and at nominal charges. Periodic maintenance of the building is done with the contribution of the residents. There is lift facility and the maintainer is easily contactable at any time. The only problem with the apartment is as it is in the ground floor so there is some mosquito problems in rainy session.

What I love about metal curtain poles is their ability to transform a simple curtain into an elegant addition to my windows. I admire the array of filial designs that creates an entirely different look for any curtain. I especially like those adjustable ones that to fit any window size. Such metal curtain poles come in various sizes that purchasing one is like picking up a can of tomato at the grocery shop – well, unless the type of color and finish of the curtain rod is not available. Most probably, even suppliers decorate their own home with their own metal curtain poles, don’t you think so?

Last week I along with my wife went to Hotel Majestic for dinner on weekend. It is a fine and small hotel in Mumbai and easy to afford for all classes of people. The reception staff and serving persons are very well mannered and cooperative. There are both vegetarian and non vegetarian foods available all the times. More over there are home delivery facilities at no extra cost. We took chicken and Indian rice for the dinner and we really enjoyed it. After the main dinner we took two soft drinks and ice cream as well. The hotel closed at 10:30 PM moment after we departed.

The recession began in the United States way back in 2007 because of the sub-prime crisis in the real estate sector and later spread to the European markets. Japan declared in late 2008 that their economy is in depression. However, over a period of two years, countries have done well to recover from this recessionary phase. India and China have been asked in the UN Summit to bail out the entire world. India has recorded a GDP of 8.5% in the first quarter of 2010-2011. China has been somehow maintaining a GDP of about 9% consistently over a decade. The latest buzz is that Europe has also declared that they are no longer into recession. China has overtaken Japan as the second largest economy in the world recently.

For anyone who lacks sleep, the windows of any bed room can seem to be too wide that light seem to pass through even with some short of blockade against it. Even babies with their different and immature circadian rhythm find it difficult to sleep with the lights on, as well as sunlight into the nursery room. And we all know what lack or insufficient sleep can do to us. If we find it difficult to sleep with the windows open, we can utilize black out blinds. These blinds will literally block out light, making it better for us to catch that much needed sleep for the next hours of work.
I am so tired of thinking about the recession that I have forgotten there was one. I used to worry about all the problems and how the government is going to fix it, but now that I see that they do not have a solution, and any solution they do have will not fix the problems. Therefore, I try not to think about recession and carry on with my life as if nothing has happened. One person cannot change the world. If they could, then there would be too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Eventually, the recession will end, who knows when, and the economy will bounce back.
Gone are the days that dad used to carve a desirable length of wood and make it as our curtain pole – at least we don’t have to wait for days before we can finally admire and show off the curtains we purchased some days ago or block the sun light that hurts our eyes. The existent curtain poles at the market are enough to make choosing which one we like best a chore. Varieties ran from brass, copper, stainless steel and chrome. We should spend enough time in choosing them not just because our choice will determine how long it will be functional but our chose will also say something about us.
You know, I did not feel like cooking, so I ate a piece of pie for dinner. At least I managed to have dessert. Sometimes, when it is hot, I do not like starting up the oven, or turning the burners on the stove, so I improvise, making my meals with microwave food or that occasional piece of pie. In addition, the craziest part of this kind of behavior is that I have lost some weight, which is good, but eating like this for too long, becomes a little boring. I will be glad when the weather changes and I can get back to making meals on the range again.
This has been a brutal recession. A lot of things have changed as a result of this economic downturn. I had to turn to different ways of generating income. A lot of my favorite stores have closed down. At the same time, I have found that I am actually able to get some side work. A lot of people see the recession as a great tragedy. I see it that way too, but I also see an opportunity to build something greater than just a job. Because of this recession, I have found myself doing something I wouldn’t have tried to do otherwise, which is build a business.
